Upcoming Event

Do you like manga? How would you like to meet a real Japanese manga artist?

Well, next Wednesday, May 2, you'll get to do just that. The RPI Japanese Cultural Association will be hosting a lecture and Q&A session with Rica Takashima, a pop artist and manga creator who has had her work published in manga magazines Phryne and Anise. Her pop art and public art work has also been exhibited in Japan, the United States, and Russia. The event is open to the public (you don't have to be an RPI student).

Rica's semi-autobiographical manga Rica'tte Kanji!? (published in English by ALC Publishing) focuses on her life as a lesbian in Japan. Her non-manga art also tends to focus on social and gender issues.

On May 2, from 7-9pm in the Biotech Auditorium (right across from J-Rowl), you'll get a chance to hear Rica speak about her unique artistic portfolio and ask her your questions about Japanese culture, manga, and how LGBTQ culture fits into all this. It's sure to be really exciting, so please make some time in your schedule to attend!

Welcome back to RPI! We will be holding meetings every Tuesday night from 7pm to 8pm in Union Room 3510.
